Cookie Policy

Last updated September 17, 2026

The short version: a handful of cookies keep you signed in and remember your language and your cookie choice — those are required for the site to work. Two analytics cookies are optional and load only if you allow them. No advertising cookies, ever.

Change your choice

You can turn analytics on or off at any time, from any page — the same banner reopens and your new choice takes effect immediately.

Strictly necessary

These make the site function. They are set without asking, because the site cannot do what you asked without them, and the law does not require consent for them. You can still block them in your browser — you just will not be able to stay signed in.

NameWhat it doesLastsSet by
ip_sessionKeeps you signed in. Contains a random session token and nothing else; it is HttpOnly, so scripts cannot read it.30 daysIterPrompt
ip_signed_inA flag telling the page you have a session, so the header can render the signed-in state without asking the server on every page load. Carries no secret and no identity.30 daysIterPrompt
NEXT_LOCALERemembers the language you chose, so a return visit opens in the same language.1 yearIterPrompt
ip_consentRecords your answer to the cookie banner, so we stop asking.6 monthsIterPrompt
ip_consent_regionRecords which consent rules apply to your request (whether we must ask before loading analytics). Set at the edge from the country of your request; it stores the rule, not your location.6 monthsIterPrompt

Analytics — optional

These help us see which prompts, guides and features are actually useful, so we know what to improve. They are not used for advertising, and they never receive the text of your prompts, your variable values, or your search terms — only a fixed list of non-identifying fields such as page type, content slug, and the length of a search.

ph_*_posthogPostHog: groups a browser's events into a session so we can see which prompts and guides get used. Prompt text and search terms are never sent.1 yearPostHog

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, these load only after you accept. Elsewhere they load unless you opt out, which you can do with the button above at any time. We also respect your browser's Do-Not-Track setting.

What we do not use

  • No advertising or retargeting cookies. No ad network is connected.
  • No social-media tracking pixels.
  • No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking.
  • No sale or sharing of any of this data.

Our hosting provider's built-in traffic measurement (Vercel Web Analytics) is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device and creates no identifier for you, so it runs regardless of your choice. It is listed on the subprocessors page for completeness.

Blocking cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you see, block and delete cookies from its settings — usually under Privacy. Blocking everything will sign you out and reset your language preference, and the cookie banner will reappear, since remembering your answer needs a cookie.
